Geelong captain Joel Selwood offered one match ban; Port Adelaide’s Lindsay Thomas off to tribunal
In the wake of Saturday night’s humiliation of Port Adelaide on their home turf by Geelong Cats skipper Joel Selwood has been offered a one match suspension by the AFL Match Review Panel for striking Port Adelaide’s Lindsay Thomas. Thomas was also offered a one match ban for striking Joel Selwood.
Thomas who flattened two Geelong players has been sent ‘directly to the tribunal’ by the MRP e.g. Michael Christian, for his crude hit on (Joel) Selwood’s brother Scott. Thomas escaped sanction for decking young Cat Jack Henry.
Finally Selwood was offered a $1000 fine for attempting to trip Chad Wingard.
See below for AFL media boss Patrick Keane’s tweets on the matter. And the video of Thomas’ hit on Scott Selwood.

Lindsay Thomas cleared contact Jack Henry. Thomas comes towards Henry from the front and contact was made to the Geelong player’s chest as he handballed the ball away. As contact was made to the chest, no further action was taken.
