AFL 2018 Round 6: Geelong Cats v Sydney Swans; Match preview and teams
AFL ROUND 6 2018, GEELONG CATS V SYDNEY SWANS, GMHBA STADIUM, SATURDAY 28 APRIL 2018, 13:45 AEST
Ben Jensen, April 27 2018 JOEL SELWOOD is free to captain his side against Sydney this Saturday afternoon at GMHBA Stadium after beating his striking charge at Tuesday night’s AFL Tribunal. And small forward Cory Gregson has been named to return after injuring a foot just two games ago. The Swans will be missing Lance Franklin and Dan Hannebery with heel and groin problems respectively along with Dean Towers.
Also coming into the Cats side are Tom Hawkins who was a late change last week, while we expect there to be another change closer to kick off with Scott Selwood in serious doubt to play. Coach Chris Scott today said Selwood may not play but they’re not sure yet and as they have to name the side today, he’d be in. The four emergencies include the omitted Jackson Thurlow, defenders Zach Guthrie and Charlie Constable, along with off-season recruit forward Stewart Crameri. Update 27/4: Scott Selwood is confirmed to miss with defender Jackson Thurlow gaining a reprieve. Zac Smith has been added to the emergencies.
In the VFL the Cats travel to Casey playing under lights on Saturday night. The VFL Women’s team have another week to go until starting their season, the first game against Melbourne Uni on 6 May.
