International sporting goods giant Decathlon to open store in Melbourne’s Box Hill
June 15, 2018
The Cattery understands that French sporting retailer, reportedly the largest sporting goods retailer globally, will be opening a store in Melbourne’s Box Hill. At a press conference planned for Monday Philip Dalidakis, Victorian Minister for Trade & Investment, Innovation, the Digital Economy & (ironically) Small Business will join Decathlon CEO Olivier Robinet at the Middleborough Road address.
Decathlon already has one Australian store in Sydney and has been operating an .com.au internet store for over a year. The new store is within a former Master Home Improvement warehouse – hopefully the bad vibes don’t follow them.
According to their website:
At Decathlon, every member of our team is driven to create quality and affordable sports products so as many people as possible worldwide can enjoy sport more.
From research to retail, design, production and logistics – we innovate to offer our users technical and good-looking products always at the lowest possible prices.
We’ve changed the game by creating real value at true cost.
THE CATTERY started out as a labour of love, and remains that, by creator and principal contributor Ben Jensen in mid season 2002. His aim was to make the best 'Unofficial' Geelong Football Club site on the net.
A consultant by day and webmaster by night, he created his first website back in 1996 whilst at the time studying Engineering and Science at Deakin University in Geelong.
