Geelong Cats v Gold Coast Suns AFL 2018 round 23 match preview
AFL Round 23 2018, Geelong Cats v Gold Coast Suns, GMHBA Stadium, Saturday 25 August 2018, 13:45 AEST
Ben Jensen, August 22 2018 JED BEWS is the only inclusion to the Cats’ final round of the season as the Cats host Gold Coast at GMHBA Stadium, their first trip to Geelong since Gary Ablett returned to the Cats. The unlucky Cat making way is Jackson Thurlow who is out after just one game back in the ones; he played well against Fremantle but then again so did everyone. Hopefully Thurlow remains at the club in 2018. Bews is returning from a shoulder injury that kept him out for two weeks, after injuring it during the final minutes of the loss against Richmond in round 20.
Gold Coast go in with an unchanged lineup after the loss to Brisbane last weekend. The Suns last time we checked were paying something like $5.7 Billion to get within a few goals of Geelong, one reason besides them being a complete basket case is their injury list – 19 long if you don’t mind. Both VFL sides play at Box Hill on Saturday afternoon, overlapping with the AFL game – the women’s side playing a ‘Hawthorn’ side at 11:30 and the men playing ‘Box Hill’ at 2pm. The AFL game kicks off at 1:45PM.
