Geelong Cats v West Coast Eagles; 2019 round 6 match preview and final teams
Geelong Cats v West Coast Eagles; AFL 2019 round 6 preview and team lists, GMHBA Stadium, Sunday 28 April 2019
Ben Jensen, 26 April 2019 GEELONG hosts West Coast in a relatively family-unfriendly timeslot of 4:40PM this Sunday, ironically the round also features the grand opening of the Cats’ autism-friendly sensory room when you’d expect children to be attending. It’s a great initiative that as a parent of a young boy with autism we will be checking out.
Geelong has left out Jordan Clark (managed) and lost Brandan Parfitt to a quad injury with an as yet undetermined period. Returning to the side are Zach Tuohy for his first game of the season, and Charlie Constable who was managed last week. The Cats initially included on an eight-man interchange Zach Tuohy, Charlie Constable, Zach Guthrie, Ryan Abbott, James Parsons, and potential debutante Fort, the 204cm ruckman.
West Coast brought in four players to their squad but like the Cats settled on two changes- omitting former Cat Nathan Vardy and losing Jack Redden to injury. Coming in are Daniel ‘Terry’ Venebles and Jarrod Brander.
The Cats are top of the ladder with four wins from five games while the Eagles are in ninth position having won three games, but will be disappointed after losing at home to Port Adelaide last round. The Cats’ injury list is in relatively good shape though for the players on the list the news hasn’t been positive lately; Jed Bews has been around three weeks away for the last three weeks, while Nakia Cockatoo is out indefinitely.
The VFL men‘s side has a bye and the VFL women have one more week to wait before round one of the VFLW starts, with an away match to Melbourne University.
