Cats thrash Hawks in Geelong

AFL 2020 round 2; GMHBA Stadium, Friday 12 June 2020 Ben Jensen GEELONG delivered Hawthorn a 61-point belting at GMHBA Stadium last night in front of an ’empty stadium’ in their first week back after the Covid-19/Coronavirus lockdown. Patrick Dangerfield enjoyed his 250th game getting plenty of the ball and kicking one goal. Geelong’s best included skipper Joel Selwood, ruckman Rhys Stanley and Brandan Parfitt who is now into his fourth season and looks to be stepping it up another notch again.

The match was fairly evenly poised up until half time, with the Cats always in front but the Hawks closed behind. From then on however the Cats smashed the Hawks with six goals to one in the third term – while in the final quarter the Cats kicked four goals and the Hawks would go scoreless. Next week the Cats again play at home, hosting Carlton on Saturday night.
