Feathers fly as Cats thrash Eagles by just under one hundred points

Geelong Cats v West Coast Eagles, AFL 2021 round 6 Ben Jensen GEELONG absolutely dismantled the West Coast Eagles on Saturday afternoon at GMHBA Stadium, winning by 97 points despite trailing at quarter time. A ten goal to none second quarter setup the mammoth win, with the Eagles managing only a solitary goal in the third and fourth quarters, returning to Perth a city in lockdown perhaps scratching their heads how they managed such a heavy defeat.

The Eagles were missing a number of key players such as Josh Kennedy while key defender Jeremy McGovern left the field early in the second quarter onslaught, leaving the Eagles even more in strife. The twin tall targets of former John Coleman medallists Tom Hawkins and Jeremy Cameron, playing his first game for the Cats, were irresistible, each booting three goals. Gary Rohan and Mitch Duncan also cleaned up with three and four goals each, Duncan’s after the siren (see video below) torpedo all but bringing the house down. The Cats fly to Sydney this weekend to play the Swans at the SCG on Saturday night.
