Cats enjoy day out in the sun

Geelong Cats v Port Adelaide Power, AFL 2022 round 10 Ben Jensen In front of a packed GMHBA Stadium basking in the sunshine Geelong defeated Port Adelaide, after a strong challenge by the Power in first half. Prior to the first bounce the Cats lost ruckman Rhys Stanley and had no ready-made replacement, Mark Blicavs taking most ruck duties. Quinton Narkle was also a late change, he and Stanley replaced by Francis Evans and last week’s substitute Cooper Stephens.

The inaccurate Cats struggled to overcome an accurate Power side in the second quarter, trailing at half time. But a five goals to one third quarter, including a crowd-pleasing barrel after the siren from Jeremy Cameron (see below) made it difficult for the Power in the final quarter. By the final siren the Cats led by 35 points, a margin that may have been predicted prior to the match but looked doubtful even in the third quarter.
