Cats go a game clear with hard-fought win over Power
Port Adelaide Power v Geelong Cats, AFL 2022 round 19 Ben Jensen GEELONG held off a determined Port Adelaide side at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday evening. It was an occasion for big forwards with Tom Hawkins and Jeremy Cameron kicking seven between term and while he only kicked two goals, Charlie Dixon was Port Adelaide’s best player. Tom Atkins was the unanimous best on ground picking up a maximum ten votes in the AFL Coaches Association award. The win gives the Cats a one match buffer over rivals Brisbane, Melbourne and new challenger Collingwood; Fremantle has now dropped out of the top four but a win over the Demons this weekend in the ‘Brayshaw Cup’ will see the Dockers return. The Cats play the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night at GMHBA Stadium, a match the Cats can afford to drop but the Bulldogs can’t if they want to make the finals.
