Geelong demolishes Sydney to win 2022 AFL premiership
Geelong Cats v Sydney Swans, AFL 2022 Grand Final Ben Jensen GEELONG are the 2002 AFL premiers after demolishing the Sydney Swans by 81 points at the MCG today. The Cats led from start to finish, the Swans never in it, in one of the most one-sided affairs in recent history. Isaac Smith won the Norm Smith medal as best afield kicking three goals, while All-Australian Tyson Stengle kicked four and Tom Hawkins three including the first two of the match.
There was heartbreak for Max Holmes; the exciting midfielder not getting over a hamstring injury and was replaced by Mark O’Connor. The substitute was Brandan Parfitt who came on for Cameron Guthrie in the final quarter and contributed almost immediately, kicking a goal. Sydney rolled the dice with injured Sam Reid but backfired, having absolutely no positive impact on the game and substituted in the third quarter.
