CATS ANNIHILATE POWER, STORM INTO PRELIMINARY FINAL

Port Adelaide Power v Geelong Cats, AFL 2024 second qualifying final Ben Jensen GEELONG CATS comprehensively annihilated Port Adelaide Power, the humiliation witnessed by just over fifty thousand fans at Adelaide Oval on Thursday night. It was a contest up until half time, though the Cats took a twenty-point lead into the main break. An eleven goal to one second half blew that lead out to an incredible eight-four points by the final siren, not quite as big a margin as the 2007 grand final but not bad. Jeremy Cameron kicked the match off with what seemed to be the best goal of the season however it won’t count due to being in the finals series.

Cameron finished with four goals as did fellow All Australian forward Tyson Stengle; Gryan Miers and Shaun Mannagh kicked three each. Later this morning Tom Hawkins and Gary Rohan will line up for the Cats’ VFL side, a big crowd expected for their do or die clash with Southport. Back to the AFL, the Cats will play a home final at the MCG, against an opponent to be determined. Grand final ticket ballot registration for Geelong members is open next Wednesday, keep your eye on your email for details.
