CATS NOT UP TO SCRATCH AGAINST BULLDOGS By Ben Jensen GEELONG were defeated by the club formerly known as Footscray in front of a good crowd of 42,626 at Telstra Dome today. The Cats led by four points at quarter time but the Bulldogs kicked seven goals straight to build what was a match winning lead. The Cats kicked two late goals in the second quarter, to bring the Bulldogs' half time lead back to twenty points. In the third quarter Geelong went to sleep again, kicking just a solitary goal while the Bullies kicked four. The fat lady sung prior to three quarter time, leaving the final quarter for an additional training run. The end score flattered the Cats - 20 points. Brad Johnson kicked five goals to half time, shadowed mostly by Matthew Scarlett but also new Captain Tom Harley, and finished with eight for the match. Nathan Ablett really impressed, kicking three goals. Older brother Gary was another of Geelong's best. Cameron Mooney was the other dominant forward, also with three goals.
Geelong host Carlton at Telstra Dome next Saturday night.
