By Ben Jensen BRISBANE LIONS V GEELONG CATS GEELONG capped off a fine season with their eighteenth win, by 42 points over Brisbane in front of 34,107 at the GABBA on Saturday night. The Cats lost Matt Egan to injury, following which Lion Jonathan Brown kicked most of his seven goals. Geelong will play their qualifying final next weekend against a yet to be determined opponent. Tickets go on sale from 9am on Monday.

Matthew Egan is almost certainly out for the entire AFL Final Series, after his injury in the win was diagnosed as a fracture in his right foot. The Club is currently exploring all available options, however it would be a not-minor miracle for Egan to be fit enough to play.

VFL 2nd QUALIFYING FINAL - CATS THROUGH TO PRELIMINARY FINAL

IN THE VFL the Bendigo Bank Cats are through to the Preliminary Final after a tough, professional win over the Coburg Tigers yesterday. Led by Steven King in the ruck, the Cats struggled early on before breaking away in the final quarter, with a seven goal to two thumping to add an exclamation point to the victory.

Jason Davenport kicked four goals in a near best on ground performance while Tom Hawkins also impressed with three goals and fifteen marks.
