MATTHEW SCARLETT TAKES HOME HIS FIRST CARJI GREEVES MEDAL B Jensen October 5 2003 GEELONG and Australian full-back Matthew Scarlett has won his first Geelong best and fairest award on Friday night. Scarlett easily won from deputy vice captain Cameron Ling and vice captain Brenton Sanderson. The next half a dozen places closely grouped. As forgettable as the season was, Scarlett's rise and rise was a highlight. He was one of the first penciled into the All Australian team, and will take on Ireland in the International Rules series later this year. Speedster Andrew Carrazzo won the VFL best and fairest while Gary Ablett was named most improved. Ben Graham finished sixth after a forgettable 2003, having a solid second half to the season.
