VFL CATS RESIST TEMPTATION TO PLAY AFL STARS IN PRELIMINARY
FINAL By Ben Jensen GEELONG CATS V NORTH BALLARAT ROOSTERS GEELONG has resisted the temptation to name any players from Sunday's win in the AFL 1st Qualifying Final in the VFL Preliminary Final this Saturday at TEAC Oval. The Cats thrashed the Roosters last time the two teams met, to the tune of seventy-one points. VFL Captain James Byrne, anointed the JJ Liston Trophy winner on Monday night, leads the side. Former AFL skipper Steven King has been named, and has his final chance to press for a spot in Geelong's AFL side. For Kangaroos affiliated North Ballarat, emergencies for the AFL side Leigh Harding and Matt Campbell have been named while third emegency Leigh Brown, dropped after his poor performance at the MCG on Sunday, has not and will presumably be a late inclusion on Saturday.
