GEELONG FANATIC IN TATTOO MIXUP By Ben Jensen GEELONG FANATIC 'Neville' certainly has a unique, permanent reminder of Geelong's history breaking premiership triumph this year. The subject of radio station 3AW's 'Rumour File' on Tuesday, Neville spoke to 3AW Breakfast's John Burns and Ross Stephenson about his experience in Thailand recently. You see Neville, who already had the 'growly cat' logo on his left arm, had an idea for a tribute to Geelong's premiership.
Neville wanted 'Night Premiers 2006', and the names of his grandchildren, inscribed onto his left arm. Therefore, he wrote down the details, with 'Left Arm' at the top. For the right arm, he wanted the new logo, plus 'Day Premiers 2007' written above. Naturally again he wrote 'Right Arm' at the top of the page. I gave them a piece of paper and wrote down right arm, the new Geelong emblem theyve got out now ... and Day Premiers 2007, he said. On the left arm side I wrote left arm and the two grandkids' names and Night Premiers 2006". First up was the right arm - and it wasn't until Neville's son in law visited him at the tattoo parlour that he was informed he was the new owner of a 'Right Arm' tattoo. He took the news in his stride, possibly helped by the 'refreshment' of "fifteen cans of beer", and simply decide to embrace the mistake. "My son-in-law walked in halfway through it (and) told me what happened, and I thought 'you're joking!' Once they'd written RIGHT ARM, I told them you might as well have LEFT ARM on the other one and make it a bit of fun." How come he didn't notice? When I first walked in he showed me the picture of the thing, and I just looked at the picture and didnt really take notice of the words. Neville also commented on the quality of the workmanship. "And the tattoo's nearly coming off, that's how bad a job they've done". He was thankful 'Right Arm' wasn't enscribed onto his left arm. "(They) certainly could have done that too - I'd believe it". Next season, Geelong's first match is a grand final replay with Port Adelaide on a Thursday night at AAMI Stadium, while in the NAB Cup the Cats open up with a match at Skilled Stadium against Melbourne. The Cats travel interstate five times, including two trips to each of Perth and Adelaide; the other game being at Sydney's Telstra Stadium. Geelong's eleven home games are split between Skilled Stadium (8 games) and Telstra Dome (3). The unfurling of the Premiership Flag is unlikely to occur until the second home game, but first at Geelong, against Melbourne in round three, however Brian Cook is considering recommending two unfurlings - one for the first 'home' game at Telstra Dome against the Bombers in round two.
