HAWKS BEAT CATS WITH LAST KICK OF MATCH

JLT COMMUNITY SERIES 2017: HAWTHORN HAWKS V GEELONG CATS HAWTHORN defeated Geelong with the last kick of the game from Kade Stewart, going better than Isaac Smith did in last season's qualifying final by kicking the goal to win the game with seconds left on the clock. The Hawks dominated the first half and a bit before the Cats booted nine goals in the third term to turn a 41 point deficit into a five point lead by three-quarter time. Patrick Dangerfield impressed withjout really getting out of second gear and was the Cats' best.

Recruits Zach Tuohy, Aaron Black and Zach Guthrie all impressed, Black booting four goals. Other new players for the Cats Jack Henry and Brandan Parfitt went OK too. For the Hawks Jarryd Roughead played his first game since recovering from cancer and first as new captain, while recruit from the Gold Coast Jaeger O'Meara played his first game in over two seasons. Key Cats Cam Guthrie and Lachie Henderson both left the field not to return in the first quarter with a rolled ankle and rib injury respectively.
