TOM HAWKINS NAMED NAB AFL RISING STAR
FOR ROUND 3 By Ben Jensen BIG GEELONG CAT TOM 'TOMAHAWK' HAWKINS has been named the NAB AFL Rising Star for round 3. With seven goals from his first two matches the selection panel couldn't really go past Hawkins, who thus far has met expectations and hopes of the Geelong faithful. On Sunday Hawkins booted four first half goals against Melbourne at the MCG before spending about half the time off the field the remainder of the match. In his debut match against Carlton at Telstra Dome Saturday week ago he booted three goals. 18 year old Hawkins, 197 cm tall and 105 kg, is now eligible to win the NAB AFL Rising Star award for 2007. The winner receives a 'personal investment folio and a dedicated personal banker', provided of course by the identify challenged National Australia Bank (aka NAB or nab depending on which press release or brochure you read).
