Ball Biter wants to be remembered as a Premiership Captain
September 18 2002

Port Melbourne Captain and Assistant Coach Peter Filandia wants to be remembered for more than merely being the first player suspended for attempting to ingest (not to mention perforating) another player's scrotum. This Sunday at Optus Oval Port Melbourne take on Geelong in the 2002 TXU VFL Grand Final, which kicks off at 2PM. Although 32, Filandia has never played in a Premiership team, and would dearly love to add 'premiership captain' to his resume, in preference to the more infamous memory of earlier this season.

Filandia, who played AFL football for Essendon and later the Sydney Swans, was suspended for 10 matches earlier this year after being found guilty of biting the testicle of Springvale (and St Kilda) player Chad Davis.

Port Melbourne, like Geelong, has not won a VFL-grade premiership since 1982. In 1982 Port won the then VFA Seniors grand final, while Geelong won the VFL Reserves premiership.

White Cleared to play!

Mitchell White, who was found guilty but not suspended by the VFL tribunal, instead, received a 'Severe Reprimand'.
