RECORD NINE CATS IN AFL ALL AUSTRALIAN TEAM
Ben Jensen 18 September 2007
By Ben Jensen THE AFL ALL AUSTRALIAN TEAM was announced
tonight, with a sensational nine Geelong players being named,
an all time record. Defenders Matthew Egan, Darren Milburn and Matthew
Scarlett were all named. Jimmy Bartel was named in the centre, Gary
Ablett the rover. In the forward line Steve Johnson capped off a so
far remarkable season with selection on a half forward flank, while
the big hairy cat Cameron Mooney was named in a pocket.
Just when it looked like they might miss out, Cameron
Ling and Joel Corey completed the Cats' route of the All Australian
team, both named on the interchange. Eight of the nine were All Australian
debutantes, with only Scarlett having been named before.
All in all it was a sensational effort, but won't mean
much if the Cats can't defeat the Magpies this Friday night at the MCG.
Tickets are selling fast, with AFL members' tickets to go on sale tomorrow.
