CHRIS SCOTT UNVEILED
AS NEW GEELONG COACH CHRIS SCOTT is Geelong's new coach, joining his twin brother Brad (Kangaroos) as an AFL coach. Scott edged out locally-produced favourites Ken Hinkley and Brenton Sanderson, having impressed at Fremantle since joining them as a coach in 2008. He played the last of his 215 games against the Cats in round 22, 2007, at the Gabba, his side losing by thirty-two points. Scott spoke at yet another packed press conference at Skilled Stadium this morning. To be a senior coach at any club is an honour but to be senior coach of Geelong, a club that is so respected and revered around the competition, is something I consider to be an exceptional honour. I would also like to thank Fremantle for giving me the opportunity to learn the craft once I retired and Ill have very fond memories of my time there. Unfortunately Sanderson, currently an assistant with the Cats, has taken the news badly, as expected. In a plea normally reserved for parents pleading for the runaway teenage daughter to ditch the older boyfriend and return home, Cats CEO Brian Cook pleading "if he's listening in, come on back, make a decision quickly." Hinkley will remain with the Gold Coast, resuming his professional relationship with Gary Ablett. Discuss in our Forum
Doing the rounds of the Internet (going 'viral' if you may) is this video showing Scott's final game, in fact final seconds of his career when now-Geelong Captain Cameron Ling got the better of him.
