TRAVIS VARCOE SUFFERS ANOTHER SETBACK By Ben Jensen twitter.com/thecattery GEELONG's TRAVIS VARCOE has suffered another blow in his bid to get his 2012 footy season underway, requiring fresh surgery in the coming week related to his battle with foot stress fractures. Cats footy Tsar or GM Football Neil Balme confirmed the news yesterday. ''He's got a bit sore, had to back off and never quite got there. There's a bit of surgery they can do that can take the pressure off that bone. It's not the whole thing being done again. It's something to alleviate the problem.'' Varcoe has played 100 games since joining the Cats in the 2005 draft from SA club Smithfield via SANFL Central Districts, the most recent of which was the 2011 Grand Final. He has gone on to play in two AFL Premierships and one VFL flag, electrifying the 2011 final with a goal inside the first 20 seconds. CATS INJURY LIST
