AFL ROUND 7 2007: GEELONG V WEST COAST; MATCH PREVIEW
AND FINAL TEAM LISTS PLUS
TV / RADIO BROADCAST DETAILS By Ben Jensen FRESH FROM their belting of Richmond, Geelong hosts rampant premier and AFL 'bad boys', the West Coast Eagles, at the second Skilled Stadium game of the year. David Wojcinski plays his hundredth game while livewire Paul Chapman will be out for at least two weeks through a hamstring injury. Matthew Stokes was recalled in Chapman's place, after a week in the VFL. Former skipper Steven King beat his report for tripping, in the VFL, but was not recalled to the AFL squad. IN: Stokes ABC RADIO'S 'GEELONG FAN FOR THE WEEK' West Coast will be missing All Australian and Premiership ruckman Dean 'Big' Cox, and Andrew Embley. Geelong's 'Max' Rooke remains missing, and should again play in the VFL (which is now a curtain raiser to this game).

ABC RADIO'S 'GEELONG FAN FOR A WEEK' (THIS WEEK) I've been contacted by Marcus from ABC Radio 774 in Melbourne (www.abc.net.au/melbourne/drive) whose mission this year is to try each of the 16 AFL teams with real passionate fans before deciding which one he will follow for the rest of his life. So far he's been to check out the Roos, Essendon, St Kilda, Melbourne, Hawthorn and Richmond last week. After the Richmond game, I think he's pretty impressed with Geelong. Marcus has moved down from Newcastle - which he thinks is a bit like Geelong - to Melbourne a couple of years ago and has yet to get around to picking a team. He's already written that there's a lot of things he likes about The Cats here: whatsmyteam.wordpress.com/2007/05/09 Marcus is going to the game on Sunday to support Geelong. He'll go to the games with whoever calls in to ABC Radio on Friday at about quarter to five and do whatever they do, chant what they chant and record a little piece from them about why love The Cats and why everyone should get behind them to play on the radio on Monday. He also has a blog where he writes about the whole adventure and where fans can talk up their team. Cats fans should get over there and make it clear there is no other team worth considering. |

ROUND 10 2006, SKILLED
STADIUM GEELONG capitulated to the West Coast Eagles despite having their opponent on the ropes yesterday, losing by three points after leading by fifty-four points midway through the third term. Most Geelong fans thought they were onto a good thing after backing their team despite playing poorly since Round Three - but it wasn't to be, as the Eagles overcame a nine goal deficit to pull off one of the come backs of the season. While some fans in the Brownlow stand cheered off the Cats, the mood in most other parts of the ground was palpable.
