AFL ROUND 13 2007: GEELONG V SYDNEY;
MATT EGAN'S 50TH; MATCH PREVIEW
PLUS TV / RADIO BROADCAST
DETAILS By Ben Jensen GEELONG V SYDNEY THE CATS, top of the AFL ladder, host a struggling Sydney Swans outfit fighting for a spot in the eight and missing Co-Captain Barry Hall. Defender Matt Egan will play his 50th game since making his debut in 2005. And in a rarity for the season so far, the game will actually be broadcast on free to air TV, in Channel Ten. Max Rooke returns from suspension, the unlucky player to make way being Kane Tenace. Joel Selwood and Travis Varcoe will play another week while Josh Hunt and David Johnson remain in the VFL.
For Sydney Matthew Laidlaw will make his debut while Nick David, Geelong's nemesis from the 2005 semi final, is back for his eighth game of the season. Jarred Moore is set to play just his second game for the season and tenth of his career after debuting in Sydney's Premiership season of 2005. VFL GAME RELOCATED - NOW A WILLIAMSTOWN 'HOME' GAME ON AT SAME TIME AS AFL MATCH DUE TO the sodden state of the Skilled Stadium surface, and the number of games programmed there over the next week or so, the VFL team's game has been moved. Due to play as an AFL 'curtain raiser' this Saturday, it has instead been moved to Williamstown's home ground, Burbank Oval, in a 2PM fixture on the same time as Geelong's AFL game. The match will be broadcast on Radio 1611, available over the web - www.radio1611.com.au

THE CATS, with little to play for other than pride, defeated the Sydney Swans by twenty-seven points at Skilled Stadium today in one of the fiercest contests of the season. Geelong's best player was Jarad Rooke, who returned after a two week absence due to a shoulder injury. Fellow tough nuts Paul Chapman, Darren Milburn and Matthew Scarlett won their battles all day, Scarlett keeping Swan spearhead Barry Hall goalless. Joel Corey, one of Geelong's best in the loss to the Saints last week, had another strong game and was the pick of the midfielders.
