AFL 2009 ROUND 2; GEELONG V RICHMOND;
MATCH PREVIEW PLUS TV / RADIO BROADCAST DETAILS By Ben Jensen AFL 2009 ROUND 2 GEELONG V RICHMOND RICHMOND, as they have to, are talking about taking it up to Geelong at Skilled Stadium this Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Tigers, after their eighty-odd point belting at the hands of Carlton last Thursday night nobody else, bookies included (Latest odds) agree with them, the Tigers being an $8 to one outsider. The Cats have made two changes, ostensibly enforced, with Simon Hogan and Tom Hawkins replacing Matthew Stokes and Tom Lonergan respectively, who were both ruled out with 'soreness'. The Tigers certainly swung the axe, with three elective changes on top of the loss of Ben Cousins with his hamstring injury. MATCH REVIEW AND RESULT; CATS STRUGGLE PAST TIGERS, WAIT ON OTTENS INJURY
While Steve Johnson, Andrew Mackie and Max Rooke were cleared to play by the AFL Match Review Panel (story), All Australian full back Matthew Scarlett will be in doubt, after spending extended, enforced, periods on the interchange against the Hawks last Friday night. The Cats are already without experienced defenders Tom Harley and Josh Hunt, and can seldom afford to lose Scarlett. This should provided a reprieve for Darren Milburn, who had (an albeit rare) shocker against Hawthorn. Richmond coach Terry Wallace is coming under pressure already, and in fact was under pressure before Geelong's match on Friday even began. That shouldn't worry him however; what would have worried him on Friday night as he took in the game from just in front of The Cattery's press box was the dominance of the Geelong midfield. He would be encouraged by how the Cats defence struggled to deal with Lance Franklin and Jarryd Roughead and also the inaccuracy of the Geelong forward line, but will still be looking at anything inside six goals as a good result for his side. Last time these two sides played, the Cats flogged the Tigers by a lazy ten goals at what was then the Telstra Dome. Interestingly, Tom Lonergan and Ryan Gamble bagged three apiece; they would have both been hoping to repeat that feat this week but Lonergan ended up giving way for Tom Hawkins at some point (probably Lonergan). Richo kicked three but also injured his knee; one imagines if he had of kicked 6 or 7 and had more of an impact he may well have a Brownlow medal in the sock drawer by now, but it wasn't to be. The match will be broadcast on Fox Sports, with live coverage in all corners of the globe including America, Asia, the Middle East and the UK / Europe. Only Krock, 3AW and ABC774 are to cover the match on radio. UMPIRES Nicholls, Stevic, Sully TIP? Geelong by 58 points
