AFL 2009 ROUND 3; GEELONG V COLLINGWOOD;
MATCH PREVIEW PLUS TV / RADIO BROADCAST DETAILS By Ben Jensen AFL 2009 ROUND 3 GEELONG V COLLINGWOOD GEELONG and COLLINGWOOD do battle at the MCG tonight in the Cats' third clash with old VFL clubs in as many weeks. Although the two teams met just under a month ago in the AFL NAB Cup final, which the Cats won by a mile, in the last Premiership clash the Magpies whipped the Cats by eighty-odd points in their only regular season loss of 2008. The Cats will be keen to not only avenge that loss, but to atone for last week's unconvincing win over the Tigers at Skilled Stadium. Coming into the side in place of injured ruckman Brad Ottens is Trent West; Shannon Byrnes in place of Simon Hogan who is rested after his debut last week, and finally Matthew Stokes, who takes Ryan Gamble's place up forward. For the Wobblers, Dale Thomas returns in place of poor old Alan Toovey, who is omitted. MATCH REVIEW AND RESULT: GEELONG GETS PAST COLLINGWOOD, TO TOP OF LADDER

ROUND 18, 2008 SATURDAY 2 AUGUST 2008, 19:40 AEST,TELSTRA DOME CATS WIN AFL NAB CUP
GRAND FINAL By Ben Jensen AFL NAB CUP GRAND FINAL GEELONG brushed aside Collingwood by a lazy seventy-six points to win their second AFL NAB Cup in four years in front of 37,277 at Etihad Stadium last night. 20 year old Joel Selwood won the Michael Tuck award for best afield, edging out Gary Ablett. The win will likely come at great cost however with nuggety defender Josh Hunt suffering what appeared to be a season-ending knee injury. Although the majority of the crowd who were very much pro-Collingwood may not have appreciated it, the manner in which the Cats snuffed out the Wobblers was a pleasure to watch for the football purest. Although scores were level at quarter time, Geelong led by forty points at halftime and should have been in front by more after kicking six goals five to Collingwood's solitary behind. Geelong further outscored the Magpies four goals to two and five goals to two in the final two quarters in what often resembled a lanework drill for the Cats.
