AFL 2009 ROUND 12; FREMANTLE V GEELONG;
MATCH PREVIEW PLUS TV / RADIO BROADCAST DETAILS By Ben Jensen AFL 2009 ROUND 12 FREMANTLE DOCKERS V GEELONG CATS GEELONG make their second trip to the West in two rounds, to face the Dockers in the second half of the split round. Last time these two sides met, Cameron Ling came off slightly worse for wear after Docker Dean Solomon collected him in the face with a flying elbow. Solomon sat out the remainder of the season as a consequence, but is named in the side to play this Saturday afternoon at Subiaco. The Cats have recalled Joel Corey and Harry Taylor, while would-be debutante Simon Hogan and tough nuts David Johnson and Max Rooke are named on an expanded interchange. Tom Lonergan and Nathan Djerrkura make way.

AFL 2008, ROUND 15, SATURDAY 12 JULY 2008, 14:10 AEST SKILLED STADIUM CATS CRUISE TO SEVENTY-FOUR POINT WIN By Ben Jensen GEELONG EASILY ACCOUNTED FOR FREMANTLE at Skilled Stadium this afternoon. The match was marred in controversy early on, Docker Dean Solomon reported for ending Cameron Ling's game in the first quarter, Ling suffering a horrendous injury in a fractured cheek bone. James Kelly was a late change due to a calf injury, replaced by Harry Taylor. Tom Lonergan kicked four goals for the second week in a row, Brad Ottens also finding the big sticks with three. But the match will be remembered for Solomon's lone act of violence, that sparked retaliations and several more spotfires throughout the match. The former Essendon 'hard man' (not sure what that means when he charges a player from 25m) has sparked a debate about whether a 'send off' rule should apply for such blatant acts of violence.
