BLUES V GEELONG CATS DAVID
WOJCINSKI will play his 200th game of AFL football this Friday night
against Carlton at Etihad Stadium in his first game of the season in
a match we like to term the 'Milburn-Silvani Cup'. Long-awaited for
his speed and experience running through the lines from the back half,
Wojcinski has missed much of the season with a footy injury and a spell
on the sidelines courtesy of a suspension following his VFL comeback.
No new players for
the Cats this week, last week's new boys Jordan Schroder and Lincoln
McCarthy making way along with Tom Gillies, Jesse Stringer and Billie
Smedts. Returning are Joel Corey, Corey Enright, Tom Hawkins and Steve
Motlop. Hawkins may yet miss after minor arthroscopic surgery less than
two weeks ago though the Cats deny this. Returning for the all but crisis
hit Blues are Matthew
Kreuzer, Lachlan Henderson and Nick Duigan.

CATS V CARLTON
BLUES
GEELONG honoured
Bob Davis tonight before defeating Carlton in an entertaining encounter
at Etihad Stadium in the first game of Indigenous Round. Fittingly for
the Cats it was largely the work of Travis Varcoe and Matthew Stokes
in the third term that saw them through. Varcoe kicked three for the
quarter and Stokes two, and the Cats went ahead by seven points at the
final break. Earlier, it was Carlton who dominated, leading by 20 points
at one stage. The Cats finally tied the game up just before half time,
much to the dismay of the rabid Carlton fans who packed into the former
'Phone Dome'. Geelong jumped to a 14 point lead after Varcoe and Stokes'
work but the Blues did manage to tie the scores themselves but the Cats
edged ahead once more.
