AFL ROUND 19 2012;
HAWTHORN V GEELONG; MATCH PREVIEW By Ben Jensen twitter.com/thecattery HAWTHORN HAWKS V GEELONG CATS HAWTHORN host GEELONG in a much anticipated match tomorrow night at the MCG; but will it live up to the billing? The Hawks are on fire, having comprehensively smashed Essendon and Collingwood the past two matches. The Cats have done all right in likewise smashing Essendon and accounting for the Crows at home but couldn't get near the Magpies the week before as they rued missed opportunities in front of goal. Out for the Cats are injured pair Joel Corey and Trent West along with omitted Cam Guthrie. Returning from suspension is Matthew Scarlett and recalled are tall pair James Podsiadly and Orren Stephenson, the former traditionally doing well against Hawthorn. The Hawks made just the one change, bringing back handy tall David Hale and dropping New Zealander Shane Savage.

ROUND 2, MONDAY 9 APRIL 2012 15:10 AEDT, MCG
By Ben Jensen twitter.com/thecattery GEELONG CATS V HAWTHORN HAWKS GEELONG somehow held off Hawthorn at the MCG this afternoon/early evening, despite trailing by three goals at three quarter time. The Cats kicked four goals one behind in the final term to the Hawks' five behinds, but it could have been a different outcome if Hawthorns Lance Franklin and other had of had the bottle to kick goals when it counted. In sharp contrast Jimmy Bartel, James Podsiadly and Tom Hawkins took the game absolutely by storm. Podsiadly kicked the final three goals of the game for five overall while Bartel kicked the first. Andrew Mackie may well have been the one who saved the match, amazingly stopping a certain goal from Michael Osborne midway through the last quarter. Hawkins was best afield, claiming no less than 12 marks and splitting the pack umpteen times, booting three goals in total. In the VFL on Sunday, Geelong defeated Williamstown by 7 points. GEELONG:
