CATS V WESTERN BULLDOGS
JOEL SELWOOD is out of Geelong's home clash with old rivals Western
Bulldogs this Sunday with general soreness. Travis Varcoe and Allen
Christensen are the two big inclusions, Varcoe being the headline, named
for his first AFL game since the 2011 Grand
Final. Christensen missed just the one match with a groin injury
while Smedts and Guthrie are more speculative. The side formerly known
as Footscray and followed by embattled Prime Minister Julia Gillard
and her former boss Peter Gordon, meanwhile have two definite outs in
Ayce Cordy (injured) and Fletcher Roberts. They have made three changes
including the recall of Spindle-shanks 'Jarrad Grand'. In the VFL the
Cats play at home on Saturday, a match preceeded by an open training
session for the AFL squad; get down to Simonds Stadium from 9:30 - more
info here. The Bendigo Bank Cats have nine wins in a row and look
to make that ten against Bulldogs affilate Williamstown.

BULLDOGS V GEELONG CATS
GEELONG battled but lead all night to win by 20 points over the
Western Bulldogs at a wintery Etihad Stadium tonight. A car-train collision
in Werribee meant many Cat fans didn't make it to the ground in time
if at all, the crowd down somewhat at under thirty thousand. Matthew
Scarlett took his place in the side for the first time in a couple weeks,
with no changes to the Cats' selected side; one change for the Bulldogs
however, Ayce Cordy replaced by Liam Jones. The Cats controlled the
first quarter but were only in front by 16 points at quarter time. The
Bulldogs kicked a goal just before half time to cut the deficit to just
seven behinds, and although they drew to within one point early in the
second half the Cats didn't quite let go, leading by ten points at the
