AFL 2014 ROUND 10; GEELONG V NORTH
MELBOURNE; TEAMS
AND MATCH PREVIEW By Ben Jensen GEELONG CATS V NORTH MELBOURNE KANGAROOS GEELONG has made two changes to their side to play North Melbourne at Simonds Stadium on Friday night, bringing back Matthew Stokes from suspension and Jesse Stringer from the VFL in place of suspended Steve Johnson and omitted Taylor Hunt. The Roos have made just the one change, Michael Firrito coming in for Scott McMahon who has been dropped. The Cats lost to the Dockers last Saturday night in Perth while the Kangaroos easily accounted for the Lions. Jed Bews retains his place in the side after playing his first game last week, Hunt the only one to pay the price for the Cats' second loss this season. In the VFL side Billie Smedts and Shane Kersten make welcome returns from injury, the forwards now a chance to play a role in the AFL side in the second half of the season and hopefully deep into September. Kersten had a knee injury while Smedts suffered a leg fracture. The VFL Cats play Collingwood at Victoria Park on Saturday.
UMPIRES TBA TIP: Cats by 23 points

AFL ROUND 2, 2013 GEELONG V NORTH MELBOURNE SUNDAY 7 APRIL 2013 13:10 AEST ETIHAD STADIUM CATS JUST GET OVER KANGAROOS IN ANOTHER
NAIL BITER By Ben Jensen GEELONG beat North Melbourne by just four points today with the last kick of the day, after looking as though they had lost it. Down by seven goals at one stage, the Cats fought back hard in the third and fourth quarters, hitting the lead some ten minutes into the final term before the Kangaroos snatched it back 18 minutes in thanks to a controversial 50m penalty. But it was a free kick and 50m penalty for the Cats that gave them the win, Jimmy Bartel earning a free with just 25 seconds left on the clock, the 50m penalty making a certainty of it. Allen Christensen and Tom Hawkins shared goal kicking honours for the Cats with three apiece, while for the Roos Lindsay Thomas was a dead-eye-dick with five, Drew Petrie with four. 7 APRIL 2013 CATS JUST GET OVER KANGAROOS IN ANOTHER NAIL BITER 5 APRIL 2013 AFL 2013 ROUND 2; GEELONG V NORTH MELBOURNE; MATCH PREVIEW, FINAL TEAMS GEELONG: 4.0, 6.4,
