TEAMS AND MATCH PREVIEW By Ben Jensen AFL 2014 ROUND 22 HAWTHORN HAWKS V GEELONG CATS JIMMY BARTEL returns for this Saturday night's -pre-finals clash with Hawthorn at the MCG. Also returning are youngsters Jordan Murdoch and Brad Hartman - in place of the omitted Billie Smedts and Jed Bews; plus the 'injured' George Horlin-Smith. The winner of the clash is more than likely to finish second and the loser third - Sydney being expected to finish on top. The Hawks have made four changes and appear to be taking the opportunity to rest players making four changes. Coming back however are experienced duo Brad Sewell and Jarryd Roughead along with Jonathan Cegla and the Sébastien Chabal lookalike Matt Spangher. Back in round 5 Geelong beat Hawthorn by 19 points on Easter Monday, and at the time shot to the top of the ladder. Last night in the VFL the Cats defeated an Essendon side at Simonds Stadium by 53 points to remain in the hunt for the top eight. Jackson Sheringham was BOG for the Cats, while Smedts also did his best to remain in contention for the senior side.

WIN OVER HAWTHORN AFL 2014 ROUND 5 GEELONG CATS V HAWTHORN HAWKS 80,222 packed the MCG for the Easter Monday classic to see Geelong defeat Hawthorn by 19 points. While not quite the titanic match we've seen in the past it was certainly an arm wrestle, the Cats in front for most of the match but briefly losing it to the Hawks early in the final quarter before powering away thanks to goals from Tom Hawkins. Hawkins went on to bag five for the day cementing his position as arguably the best key forward in the game on 2014 form. GEELONG:
