AFL 2015 ROUND 6:
COLLINGWOOD V GEELONG MATCH PREVIEW AFL ROUND 6 2015: COLLINGWOOD MAGPIES V GEELONG CATS GEELONG has made four changes from the side that beat Richmond last Saturday, ahead of Friday night's game against Collingwood at the MCG. Just one change is compulsory, James Kelly missing after suffering a ruptured testicle on the weekend. Dropped are big men Josh Walker and Dawson Simpson along with George Horlin-Smith who is really struggling to get many games in a row before being sent back to the VFL. Coming back though are two tall recruits in Mitch Clark and Rhys Stanley, Nakia Cockatoo and Josh Cowan. It is Cowan's first game since making his debut in 2011, during which he played three games. He returns to quite a different side to when he last played, the Cats struggling and the Magpies on top of their game. The Magpies have made three changes, losing two to injury (Jackson Ramsay and Paul Seedsman) while dropping Corey Gault. Their ins are Tony Armstrong, Tim Broomhead and Jarrod Witts. Walker has found it tough to break into the side and even harder to hold his spot; he appears to have missed out to Shane Kersten who did enough last week to retain his place in the side. The just about weekly ruck rotation also continues, Simpson back to the VFL leaving ruck duties to Mark Blicavs and Stanley. Of newer players Jackson Thurlow and Jed Bews have pretty much secured their spots in the backline along with veterans Corey Enright, Harry Taylor and Tom Lonergan - the latter playing his 150th game this week after two AFL premierships, a VFL best on ground in a premiership and memorably losing a kidney late in season 2006. Cory Gregson doesn't look like being dropped but may be rested at some point, Darcy Lang another new player delivering the goods. The game starts at 7:50PM at the MCG on Friday night, the weather is set to be bitterly cold so we'd recommend bringing every scrap of clothing you own and wearing three pairs of socks. The same two sides meet in the VFL, Geelong's home game this time but up in Bendigo early on Saturday evening.

AFL 2014 ROUND 3 COLLINGWOOD V GEELONG SATURDAY 5 APRIL 2014 19:40 AEST MCG 5 APRIL 2014 CATS DEFEAT MAGPIES IN THRILLER AT THE MCG 5 APRIL 2014 AFL 2014 ROUND 3; COLLINGWOOD V GEELONG; TEAMS AND MATCH PREVIEW CATS DEFEAT MAGPIES IN THRILLER AT THE MCG AFL 2014 ROUND 3 COLLINGWOOD MAGPIES V GEELONG CATS THANKS TO TOM HAWKINS, GEELONG defeated Collingwood at the MCG tonight in front of a bumper crowd of 63,152 people in a solid contest between two sides with designs on the top four. The Cats made two changes before the first bounce, bringing in Jackson Sheringham and Dawson Simpson in place of Corey Enright (ankle) and Lincoln McCarthy. The Cats had the better of the Magpies in the opening quarter but didn't really capitalise, kicking just the three goals and five behinds to the Magpies' four behinds. The second term however was a real contest, the Magpies certainly getting the better of the Cats with six goals to three, locking the scores up just before half time. Steve Johnson covered an awful lot of ground in the first half, not having an excessive amount of the ball but running up and down the ground. In the third term Geelong was arguably the better side but a late Collingwood goal kept them in it, the lead 9 points. At one point it looked as though the Cats would really run away with it but the Magpie army willed their side back into it. GEELONG:
