CATS STILL SHORT OF MEMBERS
April 21 2003

MEMBERSHIP at Geelong is still over 1,600 short of the target of 24,000. Sales have slowed to just 70 per day, down from the peak of 380 per day three weeks ago. While Geelong's first win of the season over the Demons (see below) is expected to see membership sales rise slightly, sales must continue to make the target.

Anything over the target of 24,000 will be a bonus, says Geelong CEO Brian Cook. Essendon coach and part time media commentator Kevin Sheedy believes Geelong is the AFL's 'Green Bay Packers' and should have Membership of at least 50,000. While this correspondent does not believe that figure is attainable, it is certainly true that not enough Geelong 'supporters' put their money where their mouth is and sign up.

Adult packages are available for $135 (11 games), and for as little as $55 ('House Cat'). Seating packages are amongst the cheapest in the AFL, starting at just $60 for eight games (Barracker's Block).
