GEELONG KNOCK OFF PORT AGAIN
B Jensen February 22 2004

ONCE AGAIN, Geelong, inspired by Ben Graham (four goals), knocked off Port Adelaide. But this time the nail-biting work was done well before the final siren. Graham effectively won the game with a 65m 'super goal', worth nine points, ten minutes from time. He then followed up with another goal to seal the match once and for all.

In an extraordinary final term, Port Adelaide did not score even a solitary point; Geelong booting three goals (one super goal) to move into the second round. The Cats must wait until tomorrow evening's match between Sydney and Carlton at Telstra Stadium to find out where and whom they must play in Round 2.

Cameron Mooney, described as a 'revelation' at centre half back, impressed as did recruit Cameron Thurley. The entire backline deserves as much credit as anyone, rendering Port Adelaide powerless in the forth quarter.
