NEW ASSISTANT COACH RUMOUR
September 22 2003
LACHIE WATERMAN. Well, I must admit I've never heard of him, then again I'd never really heard of Brendan McCartney, either. I was sent two emails on the topic in recent days:
"A friend of a friend tells me Lachie Waterman is in the running for the Geelong Assistant Coaching post. A former tiger in the SANFL and premiership player with Plympton (3 in a row) , Waterman has been building a bank of knowledge and came to Melbourne to complete a Sportscoaching degree at Deakin Uni under the guidance and tutelage of David Parkin. During this time, he worked in the U/18 comp with I think the Sandy Dragons and is highly regarded and being strongly considered to inspire the Geelong youngsters."
"To whom this may concern,
Recently, I have had the pleasure of working with Lachie on a complicated group
task and found him to be a pivotal responsible, reliable and efficient member
who displayed unyielding integrity... In addition, his ability to address large
groups of people and consequently display an ability to remain calm and even
tempered, despite unforeseen turmoil furthermore substantiates his natural ability
to perform.Lachie was a dedicated asset to the team and I wish him all the best
with his future endeavors"
