DEAL DONE FOR FOOTY ON FOXTEL? By Ben Jensen CHANNELS SEVEN AND TEN are believed to have tentatively agreed on a deal that would see four games per week 'live' on new pay TV channel Fox Sports 3, according to Melbourne radio station 3AW. Whilst Foxtel does not directly control Fox Sports 3, which is owned by PBL and News without any ownership by Telstra, Foxtel CEO Kim Williams was involved in negotiations. It must be noted this speculation is contrary to statements by Seven and Ten that only three live games would be offered to Foxtel in Victoria, so must be taken with a grain or thousand of salt. Fox Sports 3 is available for digital subscribers only on the Foxtel, Optus and Austar platforms. Foxtel, Optus and Austar are hoping the inclusion of football on the new channel, which is not available to existing 'analogue' subscribers, will provide a catalyst for new revenue and subscription upgrades.
THE DEAL Fox Sports 3 would have four 'live and exclusive' matches per round plus replays of the other four matches broadcast by channels Seven and Ten. Victoria / SA / WA: Friday night - 7 @ 8:30pm delay/live interstate Non AFL states: Friday night - Fox Sports 3 @ 7:30pm live / 7 @ 10:30pm
delay (the earliest)
