IT'S A DRAW! GEELONG AND ST KILDA
MATCH ENDS IN STALEMATE AFL ROUND 21 2015: GEELONG CATS V ST KILDA SAINTS GEELONG and St Kilda played out at draw at Etihad Stadium last night in front of a small crowd of 25,000. The Saints had the upper hand until just before half time, letting the Cats back into the game with a few late goals and repeating that pattern in the third quarter. But in the last quarter the Saints out-scored the Cats three goals to two with the Cats only snatching back the lead with a couple minutes to go. With one point the different St Kilda's Shane Savage had a shot for goal but could only manage a behind which tied the scores with seconds to go. The result makes it more difficult for Geelong to make the finals, the main scenario is relying upon Adelaide to lose at home to West Coast next weekend, and for the Cats to defeat Collingwood Friday night then beat Adelaide in the last round. Cat fans will rue the stuff-up by Steve Johnson in the first half, who thought he was going to casually stroll into a goal but found himself tackled by a Saints defender out of sight. Though he finished with four goals including a spectacular one minutes later the five points missed would have made a difference.
