GFC needs supporters to get behind Stadium redevelopment
November 23 2002

THE Geelong Football Club has been waging a sustained campaign to get members and other supporters to show their support for the stadium plans. Funding for the $26Million redevelopment from Local & State Governments is contingent upon the plans being proven to be financiall viable, as well as having enough community support. That support needs to come both form within and outside the city of Geelong.

Former Grovedale Ressies player Craig Farrell, now Geelong City Councillor & holder of the Sport & Recreation portfoli, says that to demolish the stadium would cost the COGG in excess of $20Million. That opposed to the COGG's proposed contribution of $6Million, makes the continuing existence of the GFC in Geelong all the more vital.

GFC Communications Manager Warwick Hadfield told this website:

"I thought you might enjoy this article by John Harms written in support of the re-development of Skilled Stadium and Kardinia Park.

At the moment, a lot ofsupporters are making publi their support for the initiative.

If you would like to do the same you can by:

1. writing a letter to The Geelong Advertiser at yoursay@geelongadvertiser.com.au
2. sending a submission to the Geelong council at PO Box 104, Geelong 3220.

We need this development to go ahead."
