CATS SEASON OVER,
CROWS INTO GRAND FINAL AFL FINALS 2017 FIRST PRELIMINARY FINAL: ADELAIDE CROWS V GEELONG CATS GEELONG's season is over after Friday night's loss to the Crows at the Adelaide Oval, bringing the curtain down on the careers of Tom Lonergan and Andrew Mackie. The Cats were belted six goals to one in the first term but strangely seemed to be still in with a chance after pegging the margin back to within five goals but still went into half time further behind. The Cats actually held their ground in the third term but a 35 point deficit was never going to be overcome, the Crows going on with it in the last term seven goals to three to book their spot in the AFL grand final. We won't bother dissecting the game too much but once more the Cats were exposed by a superior side and compounded this by making too many unforced mistakes, turning the ball over when making a forward foray or spoiling teammates who had the ball. The move to put former Crow Patrick Dangerfield up forward worked last week against the Swans but on Friday didn't work; it may have had Dangerfield converted his first shot at goal but it wasn't to be. Hats off to the fans who braved the 'Cats Convoy', catching a but at 6:15AM on Friday, arriving in Adelaide by 3:30PM to see the game. As if that wasn't tough enough the return journey left at 11:30PM, arriving back in Geelong at 9AM Saturday morning.
