CATS TESTED BY
BOMBERS, WIN BY 31 POINTS By Ben Jensen GEELONG pumped ESSENDON in the final term to win by 31 points in front of a medium sized crowd at the MCG tonight. In the third quarter it was Essendon who held the trumps, running out to a four goal lead. But Geelong's superiority was finally asserted, the Cats going on a nine-goal spree to snuff out any hopes the Bomber faithful and anyone else who took the very generous $4+ odds may have had. The Bombers kicked two consolation goals in time on but it was all too late by then.
GEELONG:
2.5 (17) 8.7 (55) 11.8 (74) 19.11 (125) DEFEATED GOALS BEST INJURIES CROWD: 57,772 at MCG
