STEVE JOHNSON SET TO PLAY; AFL GRAND FINAL PARADE
Ben Jensen 30 September 2011

GEELONG CATS STEVE JOHNSON has declared himself '99 - 100%' certain to play in tomorrow's Grand Final at the MCG against Collingwood. Johnson trained, according to himself after having 'a jab' of painkiller, at Skilled Stadium pursued by Channel Seven and other helicopters overhead as he went through his second-last fitness test. He sat in the back of a Toyota Kluger during the Grand Final Parade, as did emergencies Darren Milburn, Cameron Guthrie and Shannon Byrnes. GRAND FINAL MATCH DETAILS

The Grand Final Parade went off without a hitch, even Collingwood supporters were relatively well behaved, only jeering Cameron Ling for 30 seconds or so during the presentation at the top end of Collins Street. Afterwards, over 100 fans of the Footy Almanac turned up to a lunch at the Clyde Hotel in Elgin Street Carlton. Geelong Vice President Gareth Andrews was first up to the podium, quizzed by John Harms. Andrews wouldn't give anything away about Johnson and whether or not he'll play, and genuinely may not know. Next up was Jenny Hawkins (mother of Tom), later on we heard from Andrew Mackie's mother, Sam Pang, Tony Daniher and maybe two dozen others.
