GEELONG MAINTAINS SUPREMECY OVER MELBOURNE
Ben Jensen 30 May 2010

GEELONG CATS V MELBOURNE DEMONS GEELONG didn't really impress but did more than enough to see off any threat from Melbourne and to their hold onto top spot, with a fifty-four point victory. James Podsiadly maintained his love affair with the ground still usually known as Kardinia Park, booting five goals with fellow spearhead Tom Hawkins kicking four straight. The Big Hairy Cat, Cameron Mooney, barely troubled the scorers, registering just the one behind while Joel Selwood took care of things in the middle. The win made it twenty consecutive wins at Skilled Stadium for Geelong and eight for the season. After Sunday's games, the Cats are tied on points with the Dockers, but well ahead on percentage (156% to Freo's 128%). Next are Collingwood and St Kilda, each on seven wins, the Bulldogs and Carlton (six wins), while Sydney and Essendon round out the top eight with five wins out of ten games, ahead of Brisbane and Port Adelaide on percentage. Next Saturday night Geelong play West Coast at Subiaco, a game to be screened live on Channel Ten.
