AFL DRAW FOR 2009
RELEASED; SEVEN GAMES AT GEELONG

THE AFL has released the official draw for 2010, the last fixtures
to feature sixteen teams.

Geelong opens their season by playing Essendon in a home fixture at
the MCG, and play the first game at Skilled Stadium in round four against
Port Adelaide. Overall the Cats play seven games at the MCG including
three home games, but controversially only seven at Skilled Stadium.
Cats CEO Brian Cook confirmed he was aware there would be only seven
'proper home' games, and would be offering cheaper membership packages
for 2010.
"We've had
two or three discussions (since the draft draw was released) and none
have been fruitful in relation to the changes we wanted. Our success
has also come with some negatives and this is one of them because we'd
like to have the eight games at Skilled Stadium, but the AFL couldn't
accommodate that," Cook said. President Frank Costa though wasn't
worried. "It (the draw) is great for our supporters, but also for
our players as well".
