FINALS EDITION NO. 2 -
PRELIMINARY FINAL - GEELONG V COLLINGWOOD
Ben Jensen 20 September 2007
GEELONG are hopefully just 160 minutes of
football and two wins away from their first Premiership since 1963 (and
certainly the first in my lifetime!) The stage is set for one of the biggest
attended Preliminary Finals in years, with all tickets including standing
room sold out for tomorrow night's match against Collingwood at the MCG.
Geelong
has again stuck with Mark Blake to partner Brad Ottens in the ruck, Steven
King not even getting a look-in as an emergency. Forwards Travis Varcoe
and Charlie Gardiner are the emergencies, along with Brent Prismall. On
Sunday these four plus David Johnson have their final chance to impress
in the VFL Grand Final. Geelong's seconds team, the Bendigo Bank Cats,
play Coburg Tigers for the second time in three weeks, starting overwhelming
favourites.
With all the excitement of the big match being less than
twenty-four hours away we nearly forgot to mention Monday night's All
Australian boilover. Nine Cats were named out of a possible twenty-two.
If you're fortunate enough to have a ticket to the big
game, hope you enjoy it! And it not, the game will be broadcast live on
Channel Seven to Melbourne and Adelaide, and on delay to Queensland, NSW
and Western Australia.

NINE CATS IN AFL
ALL AUSTRALIAN TEAM
THE AFL ALL AUSTRALIAN TEAM was announced Monday night, with a sensational
nine Geelong players being named, an all time record. Defenders Matthew
Egan, Darren Milburn and Matthew Scarlett were all named. Jimmy Bartel
was named in the centre, Gary Ablett the rover. In the forward line Steve
Johnson capped off a so far remarkable season with selection on a half
forward flank, while the big hairy cat Cameron Mooney was named in a pocket.
Just when it looked
like they might miss out, Cameron Ling and Joel Corey completed the Cats'
route of the All Australian team, both named on the interchange. Eight
of the nine were All Australian debutantes, with only Scarlett having
been named before.

returned from injury last weekend.
As advised by the club, 18/9/2007 (The Cattery's comments
in brackets)
Kane Tenace Hamstring Test (Was 'Test' last week)
Sam Hunt Hamstring Test (On track)
Matt Egan Fractured navicular 1-2 weeks (On track)
