After belting the Bulldogs at Skilled Stadium last Sunday, Geelong now travels to Cairns to play dual reigning premiers the Brisbane Lions on Saturday Night. The Lions defeated Sydney by 32 points at Telstra stadium (formerly known as Stadium Australia) last Saturday. The Lions have been forced to rest Captain Michael Voss and veteran full forward Alastair Lynch while Geelong have lost the services of Cameron Ling but gain Aaron Lord.
The winner of this match will meet the winner of Collingwood verses Hawthorn, which is being played at Telstra Dome this Sunday evening. Geelong is given pretty much no chance at all even by their most rabid supporters while the Lions are on cloud nine, despite having lost the services of Lynch, Voss and Des Headland. The last time these two teams played Geelong was smashed at home in round 21. The Cats have used this defeat as their motivation to 'bulk up' over the summer. In particular David Spriggs, Brenton Sanderson have bulked up considerably.
