While Collingwood and Geelong both had relatively easy round one victories, over Carlton and the Western Bulldogs respectively, they also both had to fight hard for their round 2 wins, over the Hawks and Lions respectively. Both teams also have relatively few injuries, although the Cats would be the more physically run down team, after travelling to the tropics of Cairns last Saturday night.
Collingwood have not beaten the Cats since Round 15 1998. Most recently in Round 15, 2002, which was made infamous because of Collingwood Captain Nathan Buckley becoming the first AFL player to be banned for the offence of smearing blood on an opponent, in Geelong midfielder Cameron Ling. Buckley will no doubt be overjoyed to hear the news that Ling is out injured; Buckley being named "Ling's Bitch" the past couple of seasons.
For the first time this season a match involving Geelong will be broadcast on Free-To-Air television, namely Channel Ten. I'll be in Byron Bay this weekend so won't be able to attend so until I get back, GO CATS! Tip? Geelong by 26 points.
