While many fans and some clubs have been quick to condemn the new coverage package, Costa said the new deal had been very good to the Cats and the club's sponsors.

``All our games this year are on television, providing fantastic national coverage, particularly for those people who have signage at Skilled Stadium,'' Costa told guests at his pre-match lunch.

``It is important to note that through the new deal we will have 15 games on free-to-air television this year.

``That's 10 more than last year and that's a good result for all those people right around Australia who can't get to our games.''

Costa's comments come a week after Essendon chairman Graeme McMahon called on the AFL to better streamline games coverage, particularly to interstate fans, who did not subscribe to pay TV and could only watch free-to-air coverage late at night.

Saturday's game between Geelong and the Western Bulldogs was shown on Foxtel.
