2004 The Cattery / Cats Claw Tipping Contest
Round 22 - Frase wins by cat's whisker
Frase scored a solid final round 7 to win this season's tipping comp - well done Frase! A single game behind and coming in outright second was Chris Berry, with Showbiz and aux equal third, a further two behind. Thanks for all for taking part, it's been quite a fun comp.

Round 21 - Kriso our weekly winner, yearly comp goes down to the wire
Kris, ranked 31st with a modest 82 winners for the season, scored 6 to win this round. Frase remains on top, although he only leads Chris Berry by a single game now, after scoring 4 to Chris' 5. It's down to these two for the final round, aux having no realistic chance to peg back three winners for a share of the lead.
Round 20 - Geoffro bags a perfect eight
.This week's winner is Geoffro with a weekly score of 8 who has the lowest adjusted margin of 9.
Geoffro now finds himself on 104 overall, some 8 behind our leader, Frase. Frase holds a 2 tip lead over Chris Berry, in outright second. Ablett Junior is a further tip behind, alone in third position. It's going to be tough to catch Frase now - Frase has an average of 6.6 correct tips per round. 'Nose picker' is bringing up the rear, with the paltry average of just under 4 correct tips per round.
Round 19 - Mundi wins with a modest five
.This week's winner is Mundi with a weekly score of 5 who has the lowest adjusted margin of 33. The actual margin was 33.
Round 18 - Woody the winner
Woody won his first round of the season, with a 7. He beat Harry and Kriso who also had 7 but missed out on the margin. Woody finds himself in outright 30th position.
Frase still holds the outright lead, but Ablett Junior and Chris Berry caught up one point, both having a 6 to Frase's 5.
The average score per round is 5.1, the median score being 5.4.
Round 17 - Catman tips PERFECT eight and margin
No less than fourteen tipsters had eight winners this round. And Michael Proitsis managed to get a big, fat, 'zero'. Michael allegedly won $10 in his work's competition, he figured he may as well get zero instead of eight as he had a better chance of winning some cash. A fair point he has; the other eleven persons missed out on money while one who picked the winning margin got $20.
Catman was the overall winner for round eight, tipping not only the perfect eight but getting the struggling West Coast's winning margin over has-beens Essendon exactly right, too.
Back to the main contest; both Frase and 'Ablett Junior' had seven winners, the Frase's lead remaining three. Chris Berry and Showbiz caught up to Ablett Junior.
THE Average 'average' score thus far is 4.9; the median 5.1.
Round 16 - Frase leaps further ahead
Frase, who already enjoyed a two point buffer, has leapt even further ahead after being the lone ranger scoring eight. Frase is now three tips in front of his nearest competitor, 'Ablett Junior', in outright second. Four others share equal third place while the rest might as well give up.
Frase's average for the sixteen rounds if 5.6, the average across the group being 4.8, the median score 5.0.
Round 15 - Showbiz wins, Frase in front overall by two
This week's winner is Showbiz with a weekly score of 7 who has the lowest adjusted margin of 1. The actual margin was 29.
Frase now holds a two tip lead over six - Ablett Junior, Chris Berry, Showbiz,
aux, Catman and Seb98.
Round 14 - James Crawford wins AGAIN
This week's winner is James Crawford with a weekly score of 6 who has the lowest adjusted margin of 4. The actual margin was 21.
Round 13 - 'James Crawford' pips everybody
This week's winner is the mysterious James Crawford, with a weekly score of 7 and the lowest adjusted margin of 9. The actual margin was 66. James Crawford is believed to be an alias for a notorious lurker of Cats Claw, and a contributer to the guestbook of The Cattery.
Seb98 dropped back with a 5 while Frase leapt forward with a 7; both now level in front on 71 each. 'Nose picker' is bringing up the rear on 43, closely behind Kriso on 44.
Round 12 - Seb98 wins round with a 7, draw clear of aux
This week's winner is Seb98 with a weekly score of 7 who has the lowest adjusted margin of 8. The actual margin was 12.
Round 11 - David Cherny wins a very low scoring round
The Saints' loss combined with Carlton and Melbourne's wins in Adelaide and Perth respectively lead to very low scores this round. This week's winner is david cherny with a weekly score of 6 who has the lowest adjusted margin of 5. The actual margin was 18. Very little changes to the leader board, in fact the top 9 remain unchanged. Aux and Seb98 remain in equal lead, but with aux in front on adjusted margin.
Round 10 - Foghorn Leghorn a winner again
Foghorn Leghorn had a near perfect round. Although one short of an 8, he did tip Essendon's exact winning margin last Friday night of 30 points over the Dockers. Overall, aux is back in equal lead, in fact ahead of Seb98 by margin. Three others are close behind in equal third place (Mundi, Ben J and Frase). Chris Berry let himself down with just the 4 winners, dropping back down to equal 6th after his perfect 8 last round.
Round 9 - Chris Berry wins the round, alone on 8 and leaps to second spot; Seb98 retains lead
Round 9 winner, Chris Berry leapt from 5th spot to equal 2nd, on the back of a big 8 winners. Seb98 remains outright leader on 49, an average of 5.4 per round.
Zach gallagher wins the last prize this week, with 4. Four others had 1 but of course they didn't put any tips in at all and received the away teams instead.
Winner the previous two years, Herbert Badgery, was one of those to get 1 point, and is positioned at fifth last on 35 points. What's going on down at the Badgery?
Round 8 - Skilledfan wins the Round, Seb98 remains in lead
Skilledfan was one of four to get the top seven winners this round, nobody tipping eight. Seb98 remains on top, while Ablett Junior is joined in second place by aux. Frase and The Rock plummeted from forth to equal fifth after having just four winners.
Six people simply forgot to put their tips in and received 1, while Woody had a genuine '1'.
Round 7 - Utoracat wins; Seb98 jumps to outright lead
In a difficult round, 'utoracat' was one of ten to have five winners, pipping Pomcat by a single behind to win. 'Woody' had just the two.
Seb98 is not the outright leader, picking up one point on 'Ablett Junior'. Michael Proitsis dropped one point, moving back to equal sixth place. Kriso and Pomcat are going for the priority picks.
Round 6 - Ablett Junior & Seb98 remain in lead
Well, we're a quarter through the season and we have two joint leaders, Ablett Junior and Seb98 each on 34 winners. That's an average of just under 6. This week's winner was Harry who picked 6. Nine others also picked 6 correctly. Past winner Herbert Badgery lies within striking distance on 30. Kriso, PomCat and LozNger are leading the race for the wooden spoon. Unfortunately for them, unlike in AFL football, there's no such thing as a number one draft pick in the 2005 tipping comp. Although it isn't a bad idea. As Bracksy would say "We'll look into it".
Round 5 - MICHAEL PROITSIS wins
This week's winner was Geelong fanatic Michael Proitsis. He tipped seven winners correctly and was closest to the ultimate winning margin as the Adelaide Crows crapped all over the hapless Tigers. Ablett Junior remains on top, joined by 'Seb98'. They both have a two winner buffer to three who are on equal third.
'wembayorta' finished dead last with three winners, not too bad. Kriso is currently taking home not only the first draft choice but more than likely a priority pick. James Crawford is being investigated for violating the SALARY CAP.
Round 4 - 'DBAH0' wins
Ablett Junior has rocketed into the lead after bagging six winners. Seb98, who had only three, has done a Richmond and continued his descent down the ladder. The mysterious DBAH0 snagged seven for the second week in a row, after giving the rest of the field quite a head start.
Round 3
Quite an easy week for tipping. Chooc and Seb98 are equal leaders on 19 winners apiece; Chooc caught up to Seb after bagging 8 winners and winning the round overall. aux, Ben J and Slim also scored 8. The message is clear: in their current form, don't tip the Cats.
Round 2
Congratulations to david cherny - he won with just SIX correct tips. His downfall was, you guessed it, Geelong and Richmond.
Pomcat, Catostrophic (very appropriate) and Slim faired the worst in Round 2, with just two winners apiece.
Seb98's on front on twelve winners overall. But it's early days yet of course.
Round 1
Congratulations Rikki, aka THE ROCK. Rikki picked seven correct winners but committed what appears to be a cardinal sin - tipping Geelong!
This season our tipping comp is also running under the auspices of the The Cattery / Cats Claw (Unofficial Geelong) Message Board. Naturally, the competition is FREE to enter. In order to enter, follow the instructions below. Please direct any feedback to thecattery@keldar.net.
Last Year
Foghorn Leghorn snuck through, with only 5 in the final round, to win by two points. Ricky Allan, 6 in the final round, finished outright 2nd on 123. Four others shared 3rd place, TheRock, Gavin, Lemme and Mark Heenan, all on 122. Herbert Badgery spectacularly crashed and burned over the final rounds, finishing way down in equal 8th with Keldar on 120.
