CATS HAVE BETTER OF POWER, DESPITE
LAST QUARTER FADE OUT GEELONG accounted for Port Adelaide by twenty-five points this afternoon at Simonds Stadium, though they led by 63 points early in the final term. Angus Monfries finished with seven goals, three of them in a sequence of six unanswered Power goals as they pegged the Cats' lead back in the final quarter. The Cats were without Mitch Duncan for most of the match, Duncan leaving the field concussed in the opening minutes. Skipper Joel Selwood finished with four goals, an equal career high. With Sydney losing to Collingwood this evening Geelong held second spot on the ladder, needing to win the last three games including one against the Swans to be certain of a Victorian final first up. In other news club great Russell 'Hooker' Renfrey turns 90 tomorrow.
